"Then do they await except that the Hour should come upon them unexpectedly? But already there have come [some of] its indications."

(Quran. Surah Muhammad 47, verse 18)

For Muslims, comprehending the indicators of the Day of Judgment (Yawm al-Qiyāmah) carries significant weight. These signs, encompassing both minor and major events, function as a crucial reminder of the temporal nature of existence and the certainty of the afterlife.

The awareness of mortality serves as a powerful catalyst, inspiring a heightened commitment to virtuous actions and the pursuit of spiritual rewards, with the aspiration of attaining Jannatul Firdaus through the Mercy of Allah, in shaa Allah.

We have succumb to all of the minor signs and some of the major signs that Judgement day is not far from approaching. Signs have been shown to the people, some of the past signs are:

  • The death of Prophet Muhammad
  • Widespread immorality
  • False Prophets emerging
  • Wars & conflicts

The challenges encountered are integral to our spiritual development, as Allah tests us to foster a closer relationship with Him. It is essential to remember that those who endure difficult trials are held in high regard by Allah. So don't lose hope when faced with difficult trials, but put your trust in Allah that He will get you through it, in shaa Allah.

We have and still are encountering some of the minor signs:

  • Competition in building tall buildings.

  • Alcohol is drank in large quantities.

  • Ignorance will prevail.

  • Knowledge will be taken away due to the death of the people of knowledge.

  • Illegal sexual intercourse will be widespread.

  • Time will pass much quicker.

  • Bloodshed will increase.

  • Trustworthiness will be lost.

  • Earthquakes will increase.

  • Men will decrease in number

We are now observing significant indicators that suggest the Day of Judgment is drawing near.

Some of the major signs yet to come are as follows:

The Prophet Muhammad PBUH has already warned us about this over 1400 years ago.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "The Hour will not come to pass before the River Euphrates dries up to unveil the mountain of gold, for which people will fight. Ninety-nine out of one hundred will die (in the fighting) and every man amongst them will say: 'Perhaps I may be the only one to remain alive."' [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]

  • Imam Mahdi will come and serve for 7 years.

He will come and rule and Isa (the Messiah) will be one of his followers.

The Messenger of Allah said: "The world will not perish until a man among the Arabs appears whose name matches my name."

  •  The emergence of the Dajjal (Anti-Christ)

The advent of the Dajjal (Antichrist) represents one of the most significant trials, as detailed in authentic Islamic texts, with specific indicators outlined by the Prophet ﷺ and early scholars.

K‘ab said: “The Dajjal will not emerge until Constantinople has been conquered.”

.........................

Asma’ bint Yazid (رضي الله عنها) narrated: “Before the Dajjal, there will be three years: in the first, the sky will withhold one-third of its rain and the earth one-third of its produce. In the second, the sky will withhold two-thirds and the earth two-thirds. In the third, the sky will withhold all its rain and the earth all its produce — no animal with hooves or fangs will survive except it perishes.” [Sahih]

.........................

Sahih al-Bukhari 7407

Narrated `Abdullah:

Ad-Dajjal was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah is not hidden from you; He is not one-eyed," and pointed with his hand towards his eye, adding, "While Al-Masih Ad- Dajjal is blind in the right eye and his eye looks like a protruding grape."

  • The decent of Isa (Jesus)

Isa will return and kill the false Messiah (Dajjal) at the gate of Ludd (near Jerusalem).

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “By Allah, the son of Mary will descend as a just ruler. He will abolish the cross, kill the swine, and annul the tribute, but he will leave the she-camel such that no one collects from it. He will cause rancor, hatred, and envy to disappear, and he will call people to give their wealth in charity but no one will need it.”

  • The appearance of Gog & Magog (Yajuj & Majuj)

The Yajuj and Majuj are identified as two non-believing tribes originating from the lineage of Adam, characterized by their broad facial features and diminutive eyes. Dhul Qarnayn had build an iron wall by the will of Allah to keep them from causing disruption, corruption and chaos on earth until an unspecified time.

Gog and Magog will appear in great numbers and consume the waters of the Sea of Galilee. They will cause widespread disruption, and no one will be able to withstand them. Jesus, peace be upon him, and his followers will seek refuge on Mount Tur until God eliminates Gog and Magog. This will be accomplished by sending creatures to consume their necks. Subsequently, God will send rain to wash their remains into the sea and purify the earth of their foul odor.

"Until when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation and decend."

Surah anbiyah 21, verse 96

  • The sun rising from the West

This will be when all acceptances from Allah will come to a halt. So no-one can accept Islam after this time.

Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The Hour will not begin until the sun rises from its place of setting. When it rises from its place of setting, all people will believe, but on that day {no good will it do to a person to believe then, if he believed not before,} [Al-An`am 6, verse 158]

  • Three major land slides

It is expected that there will be three significant instances of earthquakes or structural failures in the western region, the eastern region, and the Arabian Peninsula.

The Prophet said: “When three things appear faith will not benefit one who has not previously believed or has derived no good from his faith: The rising of the sun in its place of setting, the Dajjaal, and the beast of the earth.”

  • The Smoke

“Then wait you for the Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke, covering the people, this will be a painful torment.” (Qur’an surah ad-dukhan 44, verses 10-11)

  • The beast (Dabbah)

“And when the Word (of torment) is fulfilled against them, We shall bring out from the earth a beast to them, which will speak to them because mankind believed not with certainty in Our Signs.” (Qur’an surah an-naml 27, verse 82)

  • A great fire in Yemen

This is the last of the great signs. After this starts the beginning of a new experience and creation.

the Prophet said: “When three things appear faith will not benefit one who has not previously believed or has derived no good from his faith: The rising of the sun in its place of setting, the Dajjaal, and the beast of the earth.

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The signs of the Hour will emerge in quick succession, one after another, just like the beads of a string.”
